☙The Keepsake Story ❧
This straw woven cross is associated with Brigid of Kildare, a patron saint of Ireland, and with an older pagan goddess Brigid as a sun wheel.
It is said to protect a home from fire and is often hung in kitchens for that purpose.
☙Brigid's Blessing❧
May Brigid bless the house wherein you dwell
Bless every fireside every wall and door
Bless every heart that beats beneath its roof
Bless every hand that toils to bring it joy
Bless every foot that walks its portals through
May Brigid bless the house that shelters you.

☙ What are my matting and framing options? ❧
● Mat Options. This work of art is beautifully double-matted in 4 ply mat boards. The color options are listed top to bottom. For example, Black-Gold would be a black top matt and a gold liner mat, Regardless of frame choice, you will receive mats.
● No Frame Option. You may choose to receive this work without a frame. You will still get the mats and it will be ready to frame but can not be hung until it is framed. You will need a frame that can accommodate 2 mats and the backing to frame this on your own. I only recommend this option if you are familiar with what framing entails.
● Framed Option. You may choose to have your item framed. We frame in high-quality black anodized aluminum frames with glass. This no-hassle option is ready to hang. I strongly recommend this option for items that are intended as gifts.
☙More about Brigid's Cross❧
Brigid's Cross is a Celtic cross traditionally associated with the Irish holiday of Imbolc. The holiday, also called Candlemas, is celebrated on February 2nd and marks the beginning of spring. Brigid's Cross is usually made from rushes or straw and is hung in homes to protect against fire and disease. The cross gets its name from the Celtic goddess Brigid, who was known for her healing powers. In Irish mythology, Brigid was the daughter of the god Dagda and was said to be able to cure illnesses and bring people back from the dead. She was also a skilled smith and poet, and her symbols include the cow, the serpent, and the forge. Today, Brigid's Crosses can be found all over Ireland and are often used as decorations for Imbolc celebrations. Many people believe that hanging a cross in their home will bring them good luck and protection from harm.
☙ About the Artist ❧
-Kevin Dyer. Céad Míle Fáilte!! That means 100,000 welcomes in Irish. I am a self-taught artist who has been blessed with a full-time art career dating back to the 1970s. I am originally from the west coast but have lived in Georgia since the ’70s. I have experimented with almost every medium you can think of but found my place in making cast paper in the early ‘90s. I love almost every culture of antiquity but found my roots in Celtic style art. I find most of my inspiration today from Celtic culture, nature, and fantasy. I spend most of my days at home making art. My daughter, Logan, works with me full time, and every day I pass more and more of the skills I have learned down to her.
